Abstract:
This paper presents an update on the state of the art on the different technological alternatives for conversion of the solid wastes obtained from the production of ethanol from sugar cane bagasse, into chemical products with high added value, once they have exhausted their ability to obtain sugars that can be processed into ethanol or other products by fermentation. Preliminary studies have identified gasification as a possible alternative for the use of solid wastes generated in the stage of enzymatic hydrolysis from sawdust. Finally, experimental research provides a strategy to achieve assimilation and scale-up of these technologies and strengthen the concept of cleaner technologies by developing biorefineries.
