Abstract:
Solid biomass fuels based on agrarian byproducts are one of the pillars of a sustainable development of the biomass heat sector towards Smart Biomass Heat. Their combustion, however, is challenging both from the technical point of view as well as from the legal framework. Novel German official requirements for test fuels are compared to a comprehensive database and first results of emission measurements under type test conditions are presented. With commodity agrofuels, both straw and grains, using an appropriate boiler and the first electrostatic precipitator of its size officially licensed in Germany the emission limits can be complied with.
