Abstract:
The project STAR research agenda includes a Handbook of Best Practices as a deliverable. In this paper, we first analyse the philosophy and limitations of Best Practices as a learning mechanism. Then, we present and discuss the innovative approach taken by STAR on this matter, and the innovative outcome to which it has resulted, in context of the previous relevant history of the authors. The value of the Best Practices approach followed by STAR is illustrated with a few examples of critical factors for the success of biomasstoenergy applications.
