Abstract:
The German heating sector has a significant share of 57 % of the final energy consumption in 2012 and is of great importance for considerations in energy policy making. Biomass used for heat supply currently represents 42 % of renewable energy consumption. Therefore, the quantification of biogenic heat supply and the associated energy consumption is essential for national and international reporting. The aim of the present study is to develop methodologies to predict and quantify the production of heat in smallscale furnaces (<1 MW) relating to the combustion of woody biomass.
