Abstract:
A small generator with wood gasification is investigated with two spark ignition internal combustion engines. The gasification reactor is downdraft type with simple pipe 120mm-inner diameter. A standard pellet (8.0%-moisture content) and P16 chip (20.0%-moisture content) from Japanese ceder are used as fuel. The top of the pellet/chip bed position is adjusted at the same. The ICEs have single cylinder. The ignition timings are adjusted at MBT. As a result, the syngas compositions are changed significantly with moisture content change. However, the total exchange ratios from wood energy to ICE shaft output are almost same. The ICE exchange ratios (brake thermal efficiency) from syngas in two ICE cases are larger than the normal usage.
