Abstract:
Pyrolysis appears as a potential method for valorising manure that could allow recuperating the nutrient content of wastes, and obtaining renewable energy and added-value products. An evaluation of the different management alternatives based on pyrolysis requires carrying out comparative studies, under the same operating conditions, of different types of manure. In this work, two different types of manure (non-digested and sun-dried manure, and anaerobically digested and thermally dried manure) were pyrolysed in a lab-scale fixed-bed reactor. The yields and the main properties of the products obtained were determined. The obtained data may be helpful in order to evaluate different pyrolysis-based strategies towards a potential implementation of biorefinery concepts in the livestock sector.
