Abstract:
Supercritical water gasification (SCWG) for wet-waste is expedted as a technology to convert wet-waste (sewage sludge, food waste, livestock excrement) into valuable fuel gas. Shochu is Japanese traditional distilled liquor, and shochu distillation residue is wet-waste and a kind of wet-biomass. The SCWG process for shochu residue can provide the useful steam for distillation and fermentation in distiller’s factories; moreover shochu residue is treated to clear water. However, plug problem at heat exchanger pipe of SCWG facility with tarry material produced from shochu residue is concerned for commercial plants. Therefore, daily start and stop (DSS) SCWG experiment with shochu residue was conducted to consider tar suppress effects of radical scavenger and rapidly temperature rising. This experiment was successfully achieved, because of no plagging at heat exchanger pipe during 60 hours 3 minutes DSS operation. And also, a business model applying SCWG technology to shochu residue treatment was proposed, and its profitability was examined. It was confirmed that the investment can be collected with 6 years under, if shochu residue is produced “more than 12 hours per day”.
