Abstract:
Until now a number of various laboratory, as well as industrial cultivation systems for algae production have been developed. In the present paper, critical review of existing design alternatives for algae cultivation is elaborated. Moreover, the aim is to find the cultivation system that is most appropriate for its use in industrial scale. Due to this fact, parameters which have the highest influence on the algal production in general and affects the possibility of scale-up are defined. Moreover, the transport phenomena critical parameters for scale-up are described. According to operational and design parameters comparisons, construction analysis of cultivation systems for implementation in industrial scale is elaborated. Subsequently, it should be possible to obtain the most suitable cultivation systems.
