Abstract:
The first experiments on a newly built fluidized bed combustion pilot plant were carried out successfully. In three experiments 100% waste wood (German class AI to AIV) and mixtures of this waste wood with fresh wood (German class A0) was used as biomass fuels. Samples of fuel bed sand, conglomerates in the combustion chamber and deposits on two different sampling sites on heat exchanger walls were analyzed for chemical and mineralogical characteristics. Results allow differentiated conclusions about agglomeration and fouling behavior. Transferability of the results on full scale plants could be demonstrated.
