Abstract: | The project; Demonstration of the use of silage of mixed sugar beet leaves and straw for biogas production is based on the findings in an earlier project; Flexible CHP from biogas based on waste biomass from agriculture, which was concluded in 2017. The idea of the project took its starting point in the fact that in Denmark straw and sugar beet leaves form a tremendous resource for biogas production, which is until now hardly exploited at all. The main findings in the now concluded project were: 1. The mixed silage is an excellent substrate for biogas production. 2. A significant synergy effect on the methane contribution from the straw part was found due to the ensiling process in which the straw soaks in the juice from the sugar beet leaves. The demonstration project will accomplish a full-scale demonstration of the new type of substrate, different handling methods, documentation of gained experience, and if possible, provide documentation of the synergy effect on the methane contribution from the straw component in the mixed silage. |
