Abstract: | Marine deliveries have usually large vessels that may interference local deliveries. As supply chain is a complex system, the agent-based model was developed to study the effects of marine deliveries to the local supply chain. The study was conducted using 1240 GWh demand with different storage sizes, annual marine delivery amounts and vessel sizes. Total of 148 simulations results were produced and analyzed. Results show a lower effect in the annual and monthly scale, but on a daily scale, local trucks vacancy were noted to rise before marine delivery arrival and recovered afterward. Based on results, careful planning and correct storage size, in relation to the marine delivery vessel size, mitigate negative effects of the marine delivery interruptions. Usage of the terminal for intermediate storage could mitigate effects more and should be considered. Marine deliveries allow higher feedstock amounts then local supply area can offer with a small negative effect, concerning the operation of the plant and local deliveries options. Having correct effective storage size relative to vessel size ensures uninterrupted power plans operations. |
