Abstract:
The aim of the article is a research of the vacuum drying application. Conventional drying processes were well described in many publication. The research described in the article is focused on a productivity enhancing, heat transfer efficiency and an overall improvement of the process. Two stages of the vacuum drying technology were described in last EUBCE proceedings. Progressive step in vacuum drying is an elimination of a separation between dried material and drying medium. Mechanism of a heat transfer is simillar as in a hot air dryers, but vacuum condition needs specific mechanical design, properties of construction and a support technology. The heat transfer coefficients and the heat transfer area are the main factors of the drying process. These parameters show a feasible way of improving the drying processes. A direct contact of the heating medium and the dried material maximize the heat transfer area and heat transfer coefficients.
