Abstract:
The objective of the AeroCAB research project is to take into account the impact of aeraulics in a wood burning appliance, in order to better manage the distribution of gas flows, optimize combustion and reduce pollutant emissions. The results obtained during this project are promising. Indeed, even if a consolidation of the developed models is still necessary to ensure their robustness, this project already leads to the proposal of a methodology (and associated tools) adapted to the study of aeraulics within a wood heating appliance and the prediction of corresponding polluting emissions. More especially, the two approaches considered during this project (CFD modeling on the one hand and ERN modeling using the DTS Pro software, on the other hand) provide coherent and complementary results. Coupled to a chemical model (BioPOx) and a simplified heat transfer model, the ERN model makes it possible to simulate operating parameters and gaseous pollutants in a satisfactory way compared to those measured during this project (temperatures, flow rates, CO2, total VOC and to a lesser extent CO), except for NOX. Thus, it is now necessary to consolidate and then test on a large number of experimental data the models developed and used during this project (CFD model, ERN model, BioPOx model).
