Abstract:
The use of agricultural residues as pruning of olive trees in thermochemical conversion processes for energy production, determines economic and environmental benefits. Thermochemical processes can be applied to biomass in order to produce power, heat, biofuels and chemical feedstocks. This study concerns the evaluation of olive tree pruning behaviour in thermochemical process such as pyrolysis. The aim of this work is evaluate the potential use in pyrolysis of this biomass waste material. This biomass was investigate through thermogravimetric analysis and has been studied by three different simulation test of thermal degradation at 10, 15 and 30 °C m-1. In this context, biomass is considered as an important feedstock, and thanks to a characterization about proximate, ultimate and thermal analysis can be appreciated as a common commercial fuels. The tests for thermal study were performed in dynamic conditions with a nitrogen atmosphere. During pyrolysis of olive tree pruning, three weight loss zones were showed and represent removal of water, and decomposition of hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin.
