Abstract:
Circular economy is a very attractive and beneficial strategy, necessary to be applied, in order to reuse and give a new value to wastes from different technological, agricultural, or natural processes. Great consumer of coal such as energy plants, are tempted to turn their needs to a possible alternative, environmental friendly and at reduced prise. Thus the ecological briquettes represent a potential solution. They are produced from different wastes such as coal sludge, calcium hydroxide (lime) and different species of waste biomass such as straws, wood wastes, and agricultural wastes. These materials are mixed and then are cast together, under pressure, in briquettes machine. The resulted ash, resulted from the briquettes combustion, has a favourable composition for being used as soil improvement. The paper presents results from experiments focusing on creating a novel recipe, as specific to the wastes from Valea Jiului, in Romania, known as the most important coal region: Coal sludge, molasses, Ca(OH)2, and sawdust. Analysis has been run for each of the component, and final the resulted briquettes were as well analysed.
