Abstract:
Pyrolysis process presents an important advantage that is the possibility of decentralized production of the oil in regions where abundant biomass is available. Intermediate energy carriers from pyrolysis (energy densification units) can be used as a starting point for upgrading routes to produce advanced biofuels. Bio-oil upgrading routes such as co-processing in petroleum refineries catalytic units and hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) can be assessed in terms of the bottlenecks and potentials to produce advanced biofuels. The present work aims to carry out a literature information for the co-processing of bio-oils in Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) units in order to obtain kinetic data and models regarding the co-processing of bio-oil in FCC units to the technical, economic and environmental assessment of this route. Further application of these models will consider experimental data of bio-oil from the UFU Fast Pyrolysis (Autothermal) Pilot Plant.
