Abstract:
This paper concerns the exploration of the concept of agile and restorative biorefining through a cross-disciplinary research study. We promote a small-scale, highly flexible production biorefining system that strives in an uncertain environment to respond to supply/demand and market changes. The agile paradigm allows interconnecting localised biorefineries for better source and production integration. A formal definition for the concept is introduced.
