Abstract:
Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. to which the author belongs, is developing an "energy service" that uses its own facilities to produce electricity and heat at customer plants and then sells them to customers. In light of the recent trend toward decarbonization, the company is currently considering the implementation of energy services using renewable energy sources. As a part of this effort, we conducted a demonstration test of on-site anaerobic digestion and biogas conversion of potato residue generated at the Shin-Utsunomiya Factory, a key plant of our customer Calbee, using potato residue as a substrate for approximately 250 days. The demonstration test results showed that biogas was generated stably throughout the test period. Approximately 93 NL of biogas was generated from 1 kg of substrate. The CH4 concentration of the biogas was approximately 52%.
