Abstract:
The increasing concern over environmental issues and waste management has driven the development of technologies for valorising paper sludge and generating valuable byproducts. This study explores the hydrogenation of bio-oil produced from paper sludge via Thermo-Catalytic Reforming (TCR®) technology. Hydrogenation was conducted at 350-380°C and 120 bar pressure, utilizing catalysts to convert oil to hydrocarbons. The process resulted in substantial removal of heteroatoms and significantly increased the heating value of the bio-oil and made it suitable as raw diesel or raw petrol. These improvements highlight the potential of hydrogenated TCR®-oils as high-quality biofuels.
