Abstract:
Innovations in jet-fuel production from biomass waste valorization technologies address the urgent need for clean energy. Limited research assesses sustainable aviation through an integrated approach. Biomass feedstock is key, with integrated systems showing promise. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive review of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production, focusing on 4E (energy, exergy, economic, and environmental) analysis. Bibliometric analysis reveals a gap in the literature regarding studies that incorporate 4E analyses. The results show a focus on economic and environmental analyses, with little attention to integration. Future research should fill this gap for a better understanding of renewable aviation fuel, exploring the potential outcomes obtained from exergoeconomic and exergoenvironmental analyses.
