Abstract:
Tecnofin Group Spa (I) developed an innovative combination of technologies, based on slow pyrolysis process on rotating drum, integrated with a combined cycle (gas turbine and steam turbine) at industrial level. Purpose of the work is to demonstrate the reliability of the industrial application of the pyrolysis process to a wide range of organic materials, with the aim of energy production, materials recovery and environmental safeguards. The proven technology has been applied for more than 7 years by Tecnofin to virgin biomass for the production of electric energy (4 MWe) through a combined cycle gas turbine/steam turbine. Some leading European Producers, directly interested in testing organic raw materials for a possible industrial application at their premises have been selected. For pyrolysis campaigns an existing demonstrative plant equipped with a rotating drum pyrolyzer (up to 200 Kg/hr) has been employed. For each kind of organic raw materials submitted to pyrolysis campaign, it is possible to provide the best exploitation, under an economical and environmental point of view, through energy production and materials recovery. Tecnofin itself is starting the operation of an innovative industrial plant for the recovery of gasoline from catalytic pyrolysis of plastics (10.000 t/y).
