Abstract:
Cynara cardunculus L. is an energy crop that yields two products of different nature, namely lignocellulosic biomass and oilseeds. Extraction of oil from cynara oilseeds yields a byproduct, the presscake. In this work, the potential of cynara oilseed cake for soil substrates was studied in a design with two ratios of presscake to soil and two moisture contents. The evolution of chemical parameters was followed up during 20 months by means of periodical samplings. Substrate stabilization was achieved in approximately seventeen months.
