Abstract:
Agroindustrial biomass residues are appropriate raw materials for use as energy source through thermochemical processes. Gasification of chars from coffee shells, oil palm shells and wood is performed in a thermobalance equipped with simultaneous gas analysis. The process was carried out at 750, 850 and 900 °C with H2O and CO2 as reaction agents. Concentrations of 30, 70 and 100 vol. % were used. The characterization of the raw materials includes the proximate analysis (water, ash and volatile matter contents), ultimate analysis and structural characterisation of chars. A formal kinetic model in the chemical reaction regime is used and the kinetic parameters are determined.
