Abstract:
Focus of this analysis is the research of new regenerative energy concepts for the production of seaweed biomass and energy substances. A comparison of technical process quantities shows the technological development of seaweed reactors and gives insight to future potential for improvements. Major attention is dedicated to industrial and competitive mass manufacturing of micro algae for the production of biogas, hydrogen, fuel on rape seed oil basis and ethanol. A general survey of running production systems gives a detailed costs and yield overview of existing performance standards in open and closed pond reactors, including different production methods. Necessary steps are shown in addition to improve the competitiveness of these technology concepts.
