Abstract:
Importance for the renewable energy is on the rise because of growing energy demand and climate change concerns, all across the globe. Bioenergy is one of the important renewable energy and it has huge potential which is still unused. The focus of energy production is also now moving towards the small scale systems to assure reliable and quality power supply with minimum loss. Consequently, there is a great opportunity for the small scale bioenergy sector to flourish. The intention to move towards bioenergy is not only for the economic feasibility but also for its ability to support sustainable development. The three pillars of sustainability namely economy, environment and social aspects extend beyond the organizations boundary and include supply chain activities. So, it's important to consider and integrate the sustainability aspects in the supply chain of the bioenergy system. Sustainability aspects related to the small scale bioenergy industry through stakeholder interviews; and a conceptual understanding of its influence and interaction on different elements of the supply chain are the two research objectives addressed in this research.
