Abstract:
The inhibitory effect of the main fermentation inhibitors (formic acid, acetic acid, furfural and 5-HMF) which are formed during hydrothermal pretreatment on fermentation activity of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was studied. Ethanol concentration change during fermentation process was analyzed. Formic acid, furfural and 5-HMF reduced ethanol production with increasing concentration but acetic acid didn’t affect ethanol production.
