Abstract:
The deployment of large-scale biomass applications can only be based on the existence of an adequate human capital, which requires efficient information transfer processes, typically associated with education and training schemes. Nevertheless, the complexity and fragmentation of the biomass utilisation field itself makes such processes cumbersome and inefficient, i.e., fluctuating between shallow empiricism and deep theorising. In this paper we will survey the 20-long years’ experience of the BTU/NTUA group in various types of educational and training actions in order to generate lessons and tools for broader use. A particular application niche will be the organisation by BTU of the SAHYOG Project Summer School for Indian and European biomass researchers, which is to take place in Athens in early June, 2013.
