Abstract:
The present work will summarize the methodological approach and the tentative outcomes of MED-ALGAE project, which is financed by European Union ENPI CBCMED. The project objective is to explore the establishment of new microalgae based value chains for the production of biodiesel and other value added products in six Mediterranean countries (Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Lebanon and Malta). The current level of technology, the relevant market structure, and the legislative and environmental boundaries will be mapped in the participating countries, in order to identify the most promising strategies in each country.
