Abstract:
In this work it is described a web software tool to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of biomass plants in the Italian context, by providing users a web guided decision support system. A.I.D.A. (Advanced and Innovative tool for Developing feasibility Analysis of biomass plants) project has been supported by ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development) under an agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development, and it has been carried out in collaboration with the University of Naples Federico II. It concerns the implementation of a support service oriented to all the stakeholders in the agriculture, biomass, organic waste and residues production sectors. The software tool allows to analyze various options and, through a cost-benefit analysis, to perform a feasibility analysis of a complete anaerobic digestion and gasification plant, considering also the cogeneration unit. It has been based on the results of the Italian Biomass Atlas [1,2,3], a biomass census implemented by ENEA through an interactive software platform operating via GIS. The tool can be used as decision support for the choice and location of plants for energy production from biomass and waste, taking into account logistical, geographical and technical-economic aspects [4,5,6].
