Abstract:
Gasification of wood and other waste results in by-product, i.e., char. Residual char might be used for direct combustion as fuel. Seeking to optimize the process of gasification, it is looked for char usage methods, and one of them is thermal decomposition, during which, under suitable conditions, the char reacts with carbon dioxide (CO2) and/or steam, present in the producer gas. Thus, not only the char, which remained after gasification, is used, but also the carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration in gas is reduced. In turn, it increases a calorific value of gas. Three different types of char prepared from (wood, tire, sewage sludge) were examined in the present paper. The composition of producer thesis gas is influenced by many parameters, i.e., the structure of gasifier, fuel, temperature regimes, excess air ratio, etc.
