Abstract:
BESTF aims to strengthen the EU’s technology leadership by supporting the next generation of bioenergy production. The BESTF ERANET Plus initiatives have brought together national and regional funding agencies and the European Commission to launch joint calls for bioenergy demonstration projects. Public funding from these partners will enable largescale private investments, and thus help to achieve key objectives of the European Industrial Bioenergy Initiative (EIBI). By promoting the demonstration of innovative bioenergy technologies, BESTF aims to bridge the gap between applied research and commercial demonstration, derisking private sector investment in bioenergy and in the longer term contributing towards challenging greenhouse gas and renewable energy targets. This paper describes the process and results of the two BESTF schemes launched to date.
